Basement is the seventh Map added to Gorilla Tag on March 24, 2023. Basement is the third appendage to City.
Location[]
Basement can be accessed through a large wooden door located behind the information and flashback totes. This door can be opened by pushing one of the stone hand-imprinted button located on each side of the door, revealing a white brick hallway with green carpet and a stone ceiling, with a wooden staircase leading down to the cozy retreat of the Basement.
Description[]
Basement heavily relies on it's centrepiece, currently being the Maze, a small brick structure accessible through a wooden drawbridge door which situates the Monkeyes. This centrepiece is situated by two four-seater couches, with a red colour and blue cushions, and with a blue colour and orange cushions respectively.
Piles of cardboard boxes are present throughout the room, with retro furniture and murals adorn the walls. A CRT television is placed on a small bookshelf, which serves as the music source of the room. Basement also has it's own unique leaderboard, projected onto a wall in the room in the form of white text.
Trivia[]
- Basement plays "Curse of the Monkeye", a track written for Gorilla Tag by Cody O' Quinn.
- Basement was teased throughout the course of several updates where the access door is located, initially through a painted mural, objects such as a stationary door and metal torches mounted on the concrete wall were added.
- Basement was initially paired into the same room as City, meaning players could enter both locations without leaving the current room they're in. This was changed soon after to ensure both locations were evenly distributed through having individual rooms.
- Basement initially had no way of access to it's rafters, in a future update this was changed with the addition of three tiny mouse holes placed around the room.
- Basement is the only Map to contain a computer, but not a wardrobe or gamemode selector.
- On January 12, 2024, the Maze featured in Basement was replaced with a Glass Chamber, with the maze being re-added on May 4, 2024 with an increased difficulty.
- Basement is one of 3 maps in the whole game that can only be played in casual
