Gorilla Tag Wiki

Arcade is the tenth Map added to Gorilla Tag in the 1.1.87 update as an appendage to City. The map's entrance exists as an affixed hallway in City, consisting of carpeting and posters reminiscent to the ones in Basement. Inside the map are gimmicky games giving the player a challenging but enjoyable experience.

When first released on August 23rd, it only contained Whack-a-Monke, however the 'Virtual Stump', which contains custom maps was later added. Finally, Beetle Bounce was added.

Description[]

The map's cozy interior holds a catwalk overviewing the floor level and giving access to the map's entrance/exit. On the lower level, the arcade games are present, although most the games are indicated as out of order and aren't available for the player's use. Accompanying the games on the lower level is a small dining are holding multiple children inside and tables.

Devices[]

Whack-a-Monke[]

Multiple consoles of the iconic game of whack a mole, rebranded as Whack-a-Monke, can be found on the floor level of the map. The gameplay consists of plushies resembling a player or gorilla popping up, when the player touches these, they return to the machine and gives the player a tally point counting towards a quota for each round. each round completed gives the player more score points and increases the difficulty. An example of this increase would be the higher appearance rates of a Doug the Bug stand which deducts a tally point on contact. In total there are 10 levels for the player to complete each getting increasingly difficult.

There are two models of this game. One of them being the normal, or single player version, and the other one which is the hard mode, or multiplayer version. In the Arcade update, you can also find a Whack-a-Minigames-Kid themed cosmetic in the featured section of the new City map, which makes a funny face when squeezed.

Issues[]

Virtual Stump Maploader[]

In the Arcade, there are multiple machines with headsets that can transport a player to the Virtual Stump. A player can do this by putting their head against the headsets as if they were wearing one.

The Virtual Stump is used to download and play on custom maps supported by mod.io.

These maps can be viewed through mod.io or the Virtual Stump page.

Issues[]

  • Players with parent managed accounts are unable to play in the Virtual Stump. The yellow handles of the machines disappear, and no countdown appears when looking into it. The new maps screen also indefinitely reads "Loading...".

Beetle Bounce[]

Beetle Bounce has two consoles within the Arcade, both being the same model. The game is a replication of Pong with Doug the Bug replacing the iconic ball. Hand grips are used to control your paddle's position using your controller's joysticks.

Issues[]

  • In multiplayer, the stick control can be very laggy

Trivia[]

  • This map, along with City and Basement, can only be accessed through Casual
  • Going on top of the vending machine in the corner of the concession stand and resetting your view (on oculus, hold your menu button) will allow you to pass through vending machines.
  • Arcade is the only map to have an age-restricted feature being the Virtual Stump custom maps being inaccessible to those with parent managed accounts.
